Hawthorn ...potent leaves and flowers

Hawthorn is a genus of several hundred species in the rose family (Rosaceae). Crataegus species are shrubs or small trees and usually have thorny branches. The cut, dried, flower-bearing branches are used to prepare the extract.

Traditionally, hawthorn preparations are used to alleviate symptoms of temporary nervous heart complaints (e.g. palpitations, feeling of an extra heartbeat in mild anxiety).
