Mate … potent leaves
The mate leaves come from the evergreen yerba mate tree (Aquifoliaceae family), which is found exclusively in South America. Mate tea is the national drink in many parts of South America, and is now also very popular in Europe. Due to the high caffeine content of mate leaves, it can be accepted that they have analeptic, diuretic, and positive inotropic and chronotropic properties as well as glycogenolytic and lipolytic properties.
