
Thyme ... a herb with healing properties
The thyme species Thymus vulgaris and Thymus zygis belong to the Lamiaceae family. Thymus L. is the largest genus within this family. It is characterised by polymorphism, with an extraordinary abundance of forms. The dwarf shrubs Thymus vulgaris and Thymus zygis are native to Europe and other regions.
The drug is made up of the dried whole leaves and flowers, stripped from the stems.
Thyme is traditionally used as an expectorant for a cough associated with a cold.
